Mr Leong is a highly skilled consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic surgeon with a special interest in sports injuries, hip and knee surgeries. He has obtained his Medical degree from The University of Manchester in 2006 and completed his trauma and orthopaedic training in Mersey Deanery.
He has also completed a Masters (MSc) of Trauma and Orthopaedic at the University of Warwick. He is currently clinical supervisor for orthopaedic trainees and honorary clinical lecturer for University of Liverpool.
He also has special interest in enhanced recovery and same-day discharges after joint replacements. His current practice consists of the management of sports knee injuries such as meniscal or ligamental injuries. He also have special interest in joint preservation surgery, unicompartmental (partial) knee replacement, total hip and total knee replacements. He specialises in performing hip replacements through muscle (piriformis) sparing approach which will allow for enhanced recovery with improved function during post-operative rehabilitation.
His research has led to multiple publications in renowned journals as well as International/National presentations across UK and Europe.
He has undergone two prestigious fellowships at world renowned Wrightington and Northumbria University Hospitals performing complex primary joint replacements as well as revision surgeries for failing joint replacements.
He has also done multiple visiting Fellowships in Ireland and Malaysia looking into latest technologies in providing bespoke and best possible care for his patients.
He was recently awarded Outstanding Individual Award by his trust for his continued contribution in quality improvement of services locally as well as regional collaboration.
